Transforming Budget  Tracking with a Custom Power Bl Dashboard

Our client runs a customer training program, in collaboration with multiple external training providers. The program has a pre-allocated budget divided among customers, which they will utilize to schedule training sessions.

With the sessions frequently coming in, the client faced significant challenges in efficiently monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting the latest budget consumption status. The manual processes in place were time-consuming and prone to errors, hindering the client's ability to make informed decisions in real time.

TurnB devised an innovative approach to address the challenge:

Data Integration

  • Integrated data from multiple sources into a single place to create a comprehensive record of scheduled sessions and their associated spending.

Customized Metrics

  • Defined metrics to showcase the budget consumed by completed sessions, and funds booked for upcoming sessions as well as the budget left to be utilized. Additional metrics were derived to analyze cost per training session and cost per participant, for detailed reporting.

Visualization and User Interface

  • Developed a user-friendly Power BI interface with intuitive and interactive visualizations, tailored to compare and analyze the key metrics at different levels.

Access Controls

  • Implemented Row Level Security (RLS) to limit access to budgetary information solely for the intended audience based on their roles.

Deployment and Demonstration

  • Published the Power BI dashboard after conducting extensive testing to guarantee accuracy and functionality. Provided comprehensive demo and detailed guidelines to the users to ensure seamless adoption, in addition to regular updates and refinements based on client feedback.
